Chris Bonington: Legendary British Mountaineer

Chris Bonington

Chris Bonington is a renowned British mountaineer known for leading and participating in groundbreaking expeditions. Born in 1934, he began climbing in the 1950s and quickly gained prominence. Bonington led the first ascent of Annapurna’s South Face in 1970 and was instrumental in the 1975 Everest Southwest Face expedition, which saw Doug Scott and Dougal Haston reach the summit.
