Barbara Zangerl Makes History on El Capitan

Barbara Zangerl

Austrian climber Barbara Zangerl has made history as the first person to flash ‘Freerider’ (VI 5.13a) on El Capitan in Yosemite, USA. This flawless ascent of the iconic 1000-meter big wall, originally climbed free in 1998 by Alexander and Thomas Huber, marks a new milestone in climbing. Zangerl’s achievement builds on her impressive Yosemite track record, including routes like El Niño, Zodiac, and The Nose.
