Mont Blanc: The Birthplace of Modern Mountaineering
Mont Blanc, towering at 4,807 meters or 15,774 feet is the highest peak in the Alps and Western Europe. This iconic mountain, often called ‘La Dame Blanche’ or ‘The White Lady’ has been a central figure in the history of mountaineering since the first recorded ascent in 1786 by Jacques Balmat and Michel-Gabriel Paccard. Their successful summit marked the dawn of modern mountaineering, inspiring countless expeditions and the development of the sport. Mont Blanc continues to challenge climbers making it both a coveted and dangerous climb.
